Clear protective wraps. Inscribed and signed on front free endpaper by author to Rev. Robert Frew and dated 1912. American born Mary Patrick (1850-1940) worked with and gradually transformed the American College for Girls, in Constantinople, into the leading institution for Turkish women's education. Among other things she was a gifted Armenian Scholar, and studied at Oxford, Paris, Bern (Whence her Ph.D), Leipzig, Berlin and Heidelberg. She eventually retired back to America and died in California.
