Bernard Quaritch, booksellers since 1847, have long been known, and rightly for their catalogues which have become essential references. 'The Society of Jesus' is a catalogue of books by Jesuit authors and of works relating to the Society of Jesus published between 1548 and 1773 and has an introduction by Alistair Hamilton, Arcadian Visiting Research Fellow of the Warburg Institute, University of London. It was originally issued as Catalogue 1226 in 1996 which has long been out of print and hard to find. The current volume, a limited edition of 200 copies is itself almost sold out. In 2003, Quaritch issued a further cataloge on this subject, Catalogue 1309 entitled 'Jesuit Books. Books by Jesuit Authors and Books Relating to the Society of Jesus from the Sixteenth to the Eighteenth Century Including Science & Travel'.
