(266 x 199). xix, (1), 704. Folding plan frontispiece (with very small repaired tear), 28 copper-plates, some folding and 3 facsimiles. All plates present and complete. Hinges repaired. Armorial bookplate on front pastedown with mss notes in ink and pencil. Original calf boards, with old reback and repaired corners. Original title label laid down. Complete with the Rowley facsimiles which are often missing in this History, it being thought that Barrett no longer wished to include them in his notorious work after Chatterton's deception was exposed. Provenance. Pencil note on front pastedown 'From the Collection of the Duke of Beaufort at Stoke ....... Sold by Sothebys'. Ink mss 'Stoke Library' and later partly eroded bookplate of Ernest E. Baker. A very good copy. A heavy volume which may need extra postage to be quoted.
